This summer, in its 44th season, MT Shakespeare in the Parks tours two plays to 62 communities in Montana, Northern Wyoming, Western North Dakota, Idaho, and Eastern Washington., a total of 77 performances. The company features 10 professional actors selected by national auditions who tour without technical assistance to bring live theatre to communities primarily in rural areas. All performances of Montana Shakespeare in the Parks, with the exception of those at Bozeman’s Sweet Pea Festival, are free and tickets are not needed for admission. Audiences are encouraged to show up prior to the appointed curtain time with chairs, blankets, a picnic supper, and friends and family to enjoy the evening.
For more information on the plays and a complete tour schedule, visit the company’s website http://www.shakespeareintheparks.org.
Every year the Park County Arts Council proudly brings three important programs offered by this organization including, MT Shakespeare in the Parks for our communities, Shakespeare in the Schools for our high schools, and MT Shakes! for our elementary schools. All have become favorite annual events that bring Shakespeare to life in Park County.
MSIP solicits grants and donations to reduce their costs, which they pass on to local sponsors, like the Park County Arts Council. Performances this summer are supported by grants and corporate sponsors as well as hundreds of individual donors who give what they can to keep the performances available to everyone in the touring area. As every summer, these performances are FREE to the public.
The Park County Arts Council sponsors MSIP performances using funds supported in part by a grant from the Wyoming Arts Council, through funding from the Wyoming State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts. Additional funding is provided through the generous private donations and business sponsors from people just like you. Our 2016-17 local business sponsors include:
